Liar, liar, pants on fire!

Remember that phrase?

When I was young and one of my five siblings was telling a “fib” I would say, “Liar, liar, pants on fire”.  I don’t know where it came from, but seemed to be a non-combative way to say you knew the person was telling a lie.

Well, my 18-year old granddaughter has had a struggle with accusations from satan about her weight or the way she looks.  I was utterly amazed when she first told me about it and the guilt she has when she eats anything.

It makes me so mad at satan who lies to these beautiful, teenage girls, and they buy into his lies.  Then they become bulimic or anorexia and are tormented constantly.
The other day she called me and asked me to pray for her because the tormenting was back.

The Lord said to tell her that satan is a liar, the father of lies and why would she believe a liar.  How would she treat any other liar?   She would confront or ignore him/her.  So, I told her when he starts lying to her to say, in the Name of Jesus Christ you are a liar and have no right to lie to me.  I command you to shut up!”

Later on in the conversation I remembered that phrase and I told her to say to him, “Liar, liar, pants on fire…and they really are!” We both laughed. She got it!  Praise the Lord! Smile

If we know God’s Word, we know if something doesn’t line up with it.  We know when something is a lie.  So, why do we even give it the time of day.  God has given us discernment.

It seems so simple doesn’t it.  I just pray the Holy Spirit reminds me the next time satan lies to me.

Blessings,   Pat
